Mysuru: Joint Director of District Industries Centre (DIC), Mysuru, Lingaraju has said that Bank Managers should have complete knowledge of Union and State Government schemes.

He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness programme on Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme (CMEGP) Schemes, organised jointly by District Industries Centre (DIC), Khadi and Village Industries Board, District Lead Bank and Khadi and Village Industries Commission, for District-level Bank Managers here recently.

Noting that both the Union and State Governments have introduced many schemes, policies, programmes etc., Lingaraju observed that in many cases, Bank Managers were found lacking in enough knowledge about many Government schemes. 

Pointing out that the success of PMEGP and CMEGP schemes very much depended on the co-operation of Banks, he said many Government initiatives involved sanction of loans, subsidy, loan renewal and such other process.

Stating that many of the transactions regarding Government schemes were being carried out online, he opined that beneficiaries will be more benefited by timely co-operation of Banks. Announcing that the Industries Department will grant loans of upto Rs. 5 lakh for CMEGP Scheme beneficiaries and upto Rs. 65 lakh to some schemes, Lingaraju called upon the beneficiaries to get all their doubts cleared, by learning fully about the schemes.

Bank Of Baroda Deputy General Manager K. Sathyanarayana Nayak said that it was important for Bank Managers to take timely decisions on key factors concerning Government schemes. 

Stressing on the need for discarding prejudice when it comes to advancement of loans to beneficiaries of Government schemes, he said that, however, Bank Managers have to act sternly while dealing with loan defaulters and fraudulent documents.

Highlighting the need for treating poor bank customers with respect, Nayak said that Bank Managers should function responsibly to ensure that benefits reach the doorsteps of the targeted beneficiaries. 

He further said that it was important to communicate in local language with customers.

Lead Bank Manager Venkatachalapathy, Joint Director of Agriculture Mahanteshappa, NABARD Officer Manikanta, ZP Planning Director Susheela and others were present.
