Pride of Mysuru: Rakshitha Ravi – A Painter Par Excellence

January 7, 2020

By V.N. Prasad

Young Rakshitha Ravi, a passionate painter hailing from Mysuru, was recently adjudged the best painting artist at Chicago, USA. The competition was organised by ‘International Indian Icon’ for painters across the globe. E Voting took place where paintings were posted. A cross section of the voted few were called over to Chicago, where an ‘In House’ painting competition was held under the invigilation of the hosts. Rakshitha Ravi was adjudged the best.

History remembers Michelangelo of the 15th century to M.F. Husain of 21st century for their excellence in the art of painting. Such Artists of High Renaissance were able to exert unparalleled influence on the development of the art of painting. Minds of artists can think exponentially to create pictures that speak a million words. Young minds taking to this kind of creativity is a boon to the society.

The current generation of youngsters across the world has the potential to achieve excellence if only they channelise their efforts, focus and concentrate on their goals — without much distraction. We are indeed witnessing such young minds, in all forms of arts and sports. It is a redeeming to note here that the current generation is equipped with material and ideas, thanks to the internet.

Rakshitha Ravi

Rakshitha Ravi strongly believes that “Art is a conflict of ideas, reflection of divinity and a world of self-realisation. A language you don’t have to learn and understand but should flow from within to demonstrate your passion.”

True, when the painter puts the brush on to the parchment, dimensions of thoughts are infinite that can range from nature, emotions, divinity etc.

Born and brought up at Mysuru, Rakshitha is the daughter of Ravishankar, a building contractor and Kavitha. Rakshitha is currently is doing her Computer Engineering at the McGill University, Montreal, Canada. When asked to narrate her passion for painting, she responded thus.  “Painting is not just a hobby to me but a way of life, touching the deepest parts of primordial human existence and an insight to our future. It can inculcate a special sense of bliss in us at large. My painting journey began way back in 2003-04 as a 3 year old child. I would like to thank God for His blessings. My grandfather C.S. Srinivasan, a great lover of arts and crafts, introduced  me  to  painting. Mamatha Nagesh, teacher at Manasarovara Pushkarini School, Mysuru, helped me in consolidating my efforts while I was young. Subsequently, our family friends Leslie Thyagarajan and Azmi Khan helped me  to fine-tune my abilities. I am aware that sky is the limit in this field.”
