Mysuru/Mysore:  City-based novelist and Saraswathi Sa-mman awardee Dr. S. L. Bhyrappa has been selected for ‘Ambikatana-yadatta’ National award given by Da. Ra. Bendre National Memorial Trust, Dharwad, according to Trust President D.M. Hiremath. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a citation. Dr. Bhyrappa will be conferred the award at a programme to be held at Bendre Bhavan in Dharwad on Jan.31, marking the 125th birth anniversary of the great poet.

Hiremath said that although the Government had brought down the cash prize of the award to Rs.10,000, the Trust decided to retain Rs.1 lakh purse, which will be given using Interest accrued from funds deposited by Bendre’s family members and fans.
