Annual Music Festival of N.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha from Feb.14

Mysore/MysuruN.R. Mohalla Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust will be conducting a three-day Annual Music Festival of Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana  celebrations at Sri Prasanna Mahaganapathi temple, Shivaji Road, N.R.Mohalla in the city from Feb.14 to 16.

On Feb.14: Vidushi Vasudha Keshav will present a grand music concert at 6.30 pm. She will be accompanied by Vidwans V.V. Ravi on violin, B.S. Prashanth on mridanga and V.S. Ramesh on morching.

Feb.15: Vidwan Sikkil  C. Gurucharan will present a music concert at 6.30 pm accompanied by Vidwans Srinidhi R. Mathur on violin, Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and G.S. Ramanujam on ghata.

On Feb.16: The programme will begin at 9 am with Nadaswaram and rendering Krithis of Saints Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa by individuals. This will be followed by honouring of artistes — Ballari M. Raghavendra, Neeraja Achuta Rao and Kaveri Raman at 11.20 am. The event will conclude with rendition of Pancharathna Krithis of Thyagaraja in chorus and Maha Mangalarati at 1.30 pm. Profile of artistes

Vidushi Vasudha Keshav is an ‘A’ Grade artiste of All India Radio. She has been performing for over two decades in various sabhas both within and outside the country. After having her initial training under her aunt Mahalakshmi, she is currently under the tutelage of Vidwan P.S. Narayanaswamy. Her grandfather Hemmige Rangachar was an Asthana Vidwan of Krishna Raja Wadiyar. 

A Post-Graduate from the University of Mysore, she has presented musical concerts in countries like USA, Germany and Canada. Among the numerous awards she has won include Maharajapuram Santhanam Award for Excellence in Music.

Vidwan Sikkil Gurucharan is an outstanding vocalist from Chennai. After early music lessons from Vaigal Gnanaskandan, he is currently being groomed by B. Krishnamurthy,an ‘A’ Grade artist of the All India Radio.

Born in 1982, Gurucharan comes from a family of musicians from Chennai and his father is a film artiste having acted in a number of films of yesteryears. He has received numerous awards and has scores of albums to his credit.
