Mysore/Mysuru: Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Mysuru Chapter, celebrated International Women’s Day at L&T Training Centre, Mysuru, recently.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Venkataram, Vice-Chairman, QCFI, Mysuru Chapter, followed by lighting of the lamp by chief guest, Manjula Manasa, Advocate and former Chairperson of Karnataka State Women’s Commission.
Dr. Muthukumar, Director, QCFI, addressed the gathering, highlighted the statistics of women empowerment in corporate world and encouraged women to assume higher positions in the organisation.
Marking the occasion, QCFI Mysuru Chapter awarded ‘Change Maker’ awards to two visually impaired musicians — Bhanumathi and Bharathi.
Both are Vidwats in Karnatak and Hindustani music, who pursued their studies in music from city’s Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled and then at Pandit Puttaraj Gawai Trust, Bengaluru. Now, they are teaching around 4,000 students at JSS School in Suttur.
The duo rendered Kannada songs on the occasion.
Chief guest Manjula Manasa spoke on women status and empowerment in the society. She concluded her speech by rendering a Kannada song on women.
Abdul Kareem, Secretary, QCFI Mysuru, proposed a vote of thanks. Wadiraj Kulkarni, Treasurer, QCFI Mysuru, was the Master of the Ceremony.
Krishna Kumar, Chairman, QCFI, Mysuru Chapter, Murali, Joint Secretary, QCFI, Mysuru, Harish from Ranga Rao Memorial School for Disabled and others were present.
Workshop
As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, a workshop on ‘Each for Equal’ was also held by QCFI, Mysuru. Rajalakshmi Agram Ramakrishna, Bengaluru, was the guest speaker, who spoke on work-life balance, professional happiness action plan and other aspects. She concluded the workshop with a quiz.
Around 60 women participants from various industries in and around Mysuru took part.
