Guest lecturers demand probe into suicidal deaths of fellow teachers

Mysore/Mysuru: Urging the Government to order an investigation into the suicidal deaths of their fellow lecturers during the COVID-19 lockdown, guest lecturers under the banner of Government First Grade College Guest Lecturers State Co-ordination Committee, staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday.

Demanding the State Government to take serious note of the suicidal deaths of lecturers, the protestors sought Rs.10 lakh as compensation to the family of each of the deceased. They also wanted the Government to consider lockdown period as period of service and pay them wages for all the 12 months and to extend all mandatory benefits such as PF, gratuity and medical facility, besides assuring job security for them.

Committee District President K. Mahadevaiah, office-bearers Hanumanthesh and P. Baburaj and others were present.
