Man allegedly murdered over petty reason

September 30, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: An incident of a man allegedly murdering his friend by hitting him on the head with a liquor bottle over petty reason, has taken place at Udayagiri on Monday evening.

The deceased is Srinivas (35), a resident of CITB Colony, near Sri Shaneshwaraswamy Temple at Udayagiri. The accused has been identified as Gangaraj alias Ganga, who is the friend of the victim. Udayagiri Police have taken Ganga into custody and are interrogating him.

Srinivas, who was an auto driver, had quit the job as he was not getting good rent due to COVID-19 pandemic and had taken up painting works. Victim Srinivas and accused Ganga were friends since a long time. Both used to go to work together and used to consume liquor together.

On Sept. 28 at about 2 pm, Ganga, who went to Srinivas’ house, abused him for breaking glass at his (Ganga) house and took Srinivas along with him. But at about 7 pm, one Manja came to Srinivas’ house and told his mother Chikkiramma that someone had hit Srinivas badly and he was lying unconscious.

Manja then took Chikkiramma and other family members in his auto to Ganga’s house, where they saw Srinivas in an unconscious state, resting against a wall in a sitting position with blood oozing near his right eyebrow and ear. They also saw broken bottle pieces in Ganga’s house and immediately rushed Srinivas to K.R. Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Udayagiri Police, who have registered a case under IPC Section 302, arrested Ganga and are investigating, according to a press release from DCP Dr. A.N. Prakash Gowda.
