Four-week online internship for Engineering students

Mysore/Mysuru: NI LabView Academy School, GSSS Institute of Engineering & Technology for Women (GSSSIETW), Mysuru, held a four-week online internship for the final year students of circuit branches (ECE, EEE, TCE, & EIE) of GSSSIETW, Mysuru, on ‘Communication Course using NI LabView and Software Defined Radio’ recently to encourage the students to learn LabView and carry out the internship which is part of their academic curriculum. 

Dr. M. Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, inaugurated the event and gave the insights to the scope of LabView and the need of communication systems to the students.

He also made a short recap of the events organised under NI LabView Academy School to all the participants.

Dr. Rajendra R. Patil, Head, Department of ECE, GSSSIETW, commenced the session by welcoming the co-ordinators and participants.

C. Shyamala, R. Bharathi, N. Jagadeesh, S.I. Arpitha Shankar, R.N. Nagashree and R. Amrutha, faculties of GSSSIETW, were the Resource Persons and Co-ordinators for the internship.

The internship was attended by 37 final year students of circuit branches (ECE, EEE, TCE, & EIE) of GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

The internship included a technical session on basics of NI LabView, Communication Tools and Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) through interaction with the participants and practical training.

Two-and-a-half weeks of the internship was dedicated to the training of NI LabView basics and the last one-and-a-half weeks enabled participants to get hands-on experience with Communication Tools and USRP.

The internship focused on training the students to understand communication system using modulation tool kit and configuring USRP devices for RF applications. In addition, it clarified the students’ doubts related to communication system.

The four-week session concluded by assessing and carrying out mini-project related to the training.
