Udupi: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said here that Karnataka Bandh called by several pro-Kannada organisations on Dec. 5 in protest against the establishment of Maratha Development Corporation, will not be allowed to happen.
Speaking to press persons here yesterday, Bommai said that the bandh call given by various pro-Kannada organisations is against a Supreme Court order. Maintaining that the bandh is violation of the Top Court order, he said that all Government Offices will function as usual.
Referring to reports on new year celebration rules and imposition of night curfew, Bommai said no meeting has been called to discuss clamping of night curfew as a measure to stop the escalation of COVID-19 pandemic.
Pointing out that a clear cut decision will be taken on issuing guidelines for new year celebrations, Bommai observed that instead of night curfew, the Government will come up with alternative precautionary and safety measures to check the spread of the deadly pandemic during new year celebrations.
