Estimated cost Rs. 70.58 crore; MP Pratap Simha holds meeting with highway engineers

Mysore/Mysuru: A proposal has been submitted to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to construct four Road Under Bridges (RUB) along the 41.5 kilometre Outer Ring Road that has been declared as National Highway-275K by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The total estimated cost of the RUBs is Rs. 70.58 crore and the proposal has been submitted by Assistant Executive Engineer, NHAI Sub-Divisional Office at Nazarbad to Chief Engineer, Divisional Office of NHAI in Bengaluru.

The Outer Ring Road begins at Hinkal Junction and covers the entire Mysuru city to end at Hinkal Junction and has a length of 41.5 kilometres. The Road Under Bridges have been proposed to be constructed at 5.460 of NH 275K (Outer Ring Road) with an estimated cost of Rs. 26.98 crore, at 7.060 km with an estimated cost of 8.90 crore, at 7.860 km with an estimated cost of Rs. 24.92 crore and at 28.585 km of the Outer Ring Road with an estimated cost of Rs. 9.78 crore.

Initially the road was developed and constructed by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in phased manner, later on, it was handed over to NHAI on Mar. 23, 2018. During the construction, MUDA was unable to extend existing RUBs in line with the main carriageway and service roads.

During inspection on Oct. 10, 2020 by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha and Director General of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, instructions were issued to take up the RUBs widening work by box-pushing method.

The Detailed Project Report has already been prepared by Rail India Technical and Economic Service Limited (RITES) on consultancy basis. The reports have been already approved by the competent authority.
