Chamaraja MLA L.Nagendra performs guddali puja

Mysore/Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA L.Nagendra performed guddali puja for the extended portion of the library on the first floor of the Mysore Bar Association building in the City Law Courts Complex this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagendra said that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) had sanctioned Rs.10 lakh for the construction of the extended portion of the library building last year. The MLA too has given Rs.10 lakh out of his Local Area Legislator’s Fund for the works on the structure to resume. 

Pointing out that Nirmithi Kendra has been entrusted the responsibility of construction, he said that the works are expected to be completed in three months. Maintaining that the works were delayed because of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic last year, he said that he has taken necessary measures for expediting all on-going developmental works.

Smart City project 

Referring to Smart City project, Nagendra asserted that he is making all efforts in his capacity to bring the city under the Centre’s ambitious Smart City project. 

Highlighting the advantages of the project, Nagendra said that Mysuru would get Rs.3,000 crore funding from the Centre if it is included in the project.

On collapsed buildings

The MLA further said that he would be holding a meeting with officials on the repair of the century-old Saraswathipuram Fire Station Building, the front portion of which collapsed in August 2019.

With regard to repair or restoration of Lansdowne and Devaraja Market buildings, he said that he has raised the issue with the Government and it is to be seen what decision the Government takes.

On chunks of roof plaster coming apart in a classroom at Maharaja’s College where three students were injured, Nagendra said that he has already held talks with Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, when he assured of taking necessary action.

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Ramachandra D. Huddar, District Legal Services Authority Member-Secretary Devaraj, Mysore Bar Association President S. Anand Kumar, Vice-President Shivanne Gowda, Secretary B. Shivanna, Corporator Shivakumar, MCC Zone-3 Assistant Commissioner T.S. Sathyamurthy, Nirmithi Kendra Project Director Manjunath and others were present.
