Government gears up for introducing alternative transport services

Mysore/Mysuru: With the employees of four State-run Transport Corporations (KSRTC, BMTC, NEKRTC, NWKRTC) threatening to launch  an indefinite strike from Apr. 7 seeking fulfilment of all their demands, the State Government has geared up to take on the strike by providing alternative transport services to the public. 

As a first step in this regard, the Government has invited applications from private bus, mini bus and maxi cab operators for issuing  a temporary contract carriage permit, to ensure that passengers are not inconvenienced during the bandh.

The Government has said that private bus, mini-bus and maxi-cab operators can contact the Secretary of the respective Regional Transport Authority  for temporary permits.

Meanwhile, the Government has issued guidelines for inter- RTC transfers of employees, according to which the employees can apply online for seeking transfers. A permanent employee who has served in one RTC for a minimum of 10 years, can apply for one-time transfer. However, the 10-year rule does not apply for husband-wife transfers.

But the husband/ wife of the  RTC employee, who is seeking transfer, should submit a certificate on spouse employment in State or Central Government undertakings.
