711 vehicles seized on May 2, 3

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City Police, who are keeping a watch on city to check unnecessary movement of people and also ensuring that people follow COVID-19 guidelines, issued by the State Government have seized a total of 711 vehicles besides registering 552 cases on those violating the guidelines and imposing Rs. 88,900 spot fines on them on May 2 and 3. 

The City Police, who conducted operations across the city on May 2, have seized 328 two-wheelers, 12 autorickshaws, 53 cars and 9 other vehicles for moving around city unnecessarily. 

The Cops have also registered 311 cases against people for not wearing face masks and not maintaining social distancing among other COVID-19 guidelines besides imposing a total of Rs. 50,400 spot fines on the offenders.

The Police also conducted operations on shops conducting business by violating the Government guidelines and action have been taken against the violators under The Disaster Management Act-2005 and The Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act-2020.

The Police have registered cases against the owner of a chicken meat stall at Gokulam 2nd Stage and owner of a garment shop at Meena Bazaar. 

The Cops have submitted reports to the Court seeking permission to take action against owners of a garment shop on Kabir Road, another shop in Mandi Mohalla and chicken meat stalls at Vinayakanagar and V.V. Mohalla and against the owner of a Paint and Plywood shop in Rajivnagar 2nd Stage for violating the rules.

On May 3, the Police have seized 289 two-wheelers, 10 autorickshaws and 10 cars for moving around unnecessarily during COVID Curfew. 

A total of 241 cases have been registered against those found not wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing among other rules besides imposing Rs. 38,500 spot fine on them.

The Police have also submitted reports to a Court and have sought permission to take action against the owner of a General Store in Gokulam 2nd Stage and against the owner of a juice shop in Gokulam 2nd Stage for not following the rules while conducting business, according to a press release.
