Two of the six tankers to reach Dharwad tomorrow

Hubballi: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said here on Monday that the Centre has dispatched six tankers containing a total of 30 Metric Tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen to Karnataka which will arrive in the State on Wednesday.

Speaking at a review meeting of the legislators and officials of Dharwad District, Joshi said two of the six tankers each carrying five Metric Tonnes of Oxygen will reach Dharwad from where the Oxygen will be distributed to the adjacent District of Belagavi and Vijayapura.

He said that so far the Centre has granted 150 Oxygen Plants to Karnataka along with 1,500 units of oxygen Concentrators to meet the demand for treating Covid-19 patients. Calling upon the people to cooperate with the Government’s efforts to break the chain of Covid-19 pandemic by adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines strictly, he said every patient, whether rich or poor, is being treated equally under the Ayushman Bharath Scheme in the State.

Minister for Major and Medium Industries and State  in-Charge for procuring Medical Oxygen, Jagadish Shettar said that he is in touch with the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and had urged him to help Karnataka get additional supply of Oxygen. All necessary actions are being taken to ensure that there is no shortage of beds or Medical Oxygen in the State, he said.

Shettar also said that arrangements are being made to distribute at least 50,000 Medicine Kits containing Vitamin, Zinc and other relevant medicines to the needy families in the district to help prevent the  pandemic.
