Mysore/Mysuru: A pack of dogs, which raided a sheep pen on Monday midnight, have killed 12 sheep besides injuring about five of them.
The incident took place at the sheep pen belonging to farmer Narayan at Janata Layout in Kadakola village of the taluk.
Though Narayan heard the barking of dogs and bleating of sheep, he (Narayan) did not go out to their rescue out of fear and when he examined the sheep pen the next day early morning, he found 12 sheep dead and five seriously injured. He immediately informed the Veterinary Hospital. Narayan is said to have suffered a loss of Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 90,000.
Veterinarian Dr. Apoorva visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Union Farmers’ Co-op Bank Vice-President Kadakola Kumaraswamy has urged the authorities concerned to provide adequate compensation to Narayan and has demanded the Gram Panchayat to take steps to control the menace of stray dogs in the village to protect the livestock of villagers.
