National Moth Week-2021: Webinar, Post Card Drawing, Quiz & Essay Competitions

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of National Moth Week-2021 celebrations, Mysore Science Foundation, affiliated to Vigyan Prasar and Harish R. Bhat Science Foundation (HRBSF) have jointly organised a National-level Webinar on July 17 and 18 from 6 pm to 7.30 pm.

July 17: R. Chaturved Shet, Researcher and Co-Founder, HRBSF, Bengaluru, will talk on the topic ‘Moths: Introduction and Importance.’

July 18: Shaikh Hussain, Wildlife Biologist, Conservationist and Founder-Member of Moth Society of Telangana, will talk on the topic ‘Moths: Documentation, Research Methodologies and Community Participation.’ Interested may join the Webinar by using Google Meet link https://meet.google.com/jqg-dbai-juv

Post Card Drawing

A Post Card Drawing Competition has been organised for Primary (5th, 6th & 7th standard) and High School (8th, 9th and 10th standard) students of the State on the topic ‘Moths and its habitat.’

Instructions: Send only one drawing; Use only Postcard of ‘India Post’ for drawing; Can use any technique, colour and media; Candidates are advised to independently draw the diagram without seeking any kind of external help. Last date to receive the drawing is July 25. Draw a picture on one side of the postcard and on the other side write addresses as shown below:

Online Quiz Competition

An Online Quiz Competition has been organised for 8th, 9th and 10th standard students of Karnataka.

Registration Fee: Rs. 20; Registration Form: https://forms.gle/gz5uGs63hsNHwdwVA

Instructions: All questions are multiple choice questions; There are 20 questions for 25 marks; There will be only 20 minutes to answer all questions. Once the time is over, the answer will not be recorded; The link to the question paper will be sent to the group you are joining with on the morning of July 25; The quiz is open only from 11 am to 12 noon on July 25. Be honest with your effort.

Essay Competition 

An Essay Competition on the topics ‘Mesmerising Moths’ OR ‘Ecological Role of Moths in Nature’ has been organised for PU, UG and PG students, teachers and interested public.

Instructions: Essay can be written in Kannada or English; Essay should be sent in Microsoft Word in Times New Roman font and in Font Size 12; Article should not exceed three A4 pages or 1,500 words; e-mail essay to [email protected] before July 24; Do not put any photos in the article; Type full name, address and mobile number at the end of the article.

While the first prize winner will get Rs. 1,000 cash + Rs. 2,000 worth Biodiversity Books + e-certificate, second prize winner will get Rs. 500 cash + Rs. 1,000 worth Biodiversity Books + e-certificate. All participants will get participation e-certificte.
