CESC asked to shift overhead power lines that pass through Schools

September 8, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Following the death of a student due to electrocution while hoisting the National Flag during the Independence day celebrations, the Power Department has directed power supply companies (Escoms, including CESC) to shift power lines that pass over the Schools or install A.B. cables.

In a letter to the Managing Directors of all State-run Power Distribution and Transmission Companies, the Additional Chief Secretary of Energy Department said that following directions from Energy Minister, a circular has been issued to shift all overhead power lines that pass over educational Institutions in the State or to lay A.B. cables as a replacement. As such, the power supply companies personnel should visit  all Schools and Colleges to check for any overhead power lines and if found, to shift them to suitable spots. Escoms have also been directed to submit a status report to Government in this regard.
