Temple demolition: Vedike to stage demonstration on Sept. 16

September 14, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the administration’s action of demolishing centuries old Mahadevamma Temple at Huchhagani village in Nanjangud taluk, the Hindu Jagarana Vedike will stage a demonstration in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate on Sept. 16.

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Vedike General Secretary Ullas said that the Uchhagani Temple was historic one built centuries ago. Maintaining that earlier, the Nanjangud Tahsildar had observed that the Temple could be regularised, he wondered why the Temple was razed overnight. The demonstration on Sept. 16 is to seek action against all officials who were responsible for the demolition of the historic temple, he said.

Vedike office-bearers Lakshminarayan, G. Rajan and Lohit were present.
