Nanjangud/Chamarajanagar: Sri Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud has fetched  revenue of Rs. 1.58 crore in one month through hundi collections,  according to Temple Chief Executive Officer Ravindra.

The temple’s 24 hundis (offering boxes) were opened on Friday in the temple premises and the collections for the last one month were counted. Rs. 1,58,68,243 cash was collected along with 190 gram gold, 3.750 kg silver and nine foreign currencies. Interestingly, 40 demonetised notes of 500 denomination and four notes of 1,000 denomination worth Rs. 24,000 were found.

After the collections were counted, the cash has been deposited to Bank of Baroda, Nanjangud Branch.

The counting of hundis was taken up by more than 100 women temple staff and  women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) members in the presence of Bank of Baroda staff.

Mysuru Assistant Commissioner Kamalabai, AEO Venkatesh Prasad, Accountant Gurumallaiah, Muzrai Tahsildar Krishna and temple staff Yamuna, Bank of Baroda Nanjangud branch Manager Harsha and other bank staff were present during the counting. Male Mahadeshwara Swamy Kshetra Development Authority: The collection at hundis in Male Mahadeshwara Temple,  Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district has fetched Rs. 1.29 crore revenue. The hundi collections yielded Rs. 1,29,82,174 cash,  44 gram gold, 1.3 kg silver. The counting was taken up on Friday.
