Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that ‘Kaliyuva Mane’, a non-formal School at Kenchalagudu on the outskirts of the city,  has been providing education to deprived children since many years, Divya Deepa Charitable Trust, which runs this School, has demanded recognition from the Government.

Addressing a press meet here recently, Managing Trustee M.R. Ananth Kumar said that inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and Aurobindo, the Founders of the Trust started ‘Kaliyuva Mane’  to help disadvantaged and marginalised children by educating them and providing food, clothing, accommodation, primary healthcare, recreational facilities etc.

Started in 2005, Ananth Kumar said the School gradually transformed into a full-fledged residential School in 2020.

Noting that this School differs from the mainstream Schools in many ways, he said that several experiments and creative activities are taking place in this school, which currently has about 100 children.

Maintaining that ‘Kaliyuva Mane’ lacks recognition from the Education Department, Ananth Kumar asserted that this institution has been recognised by the children, parents and the public. Also, the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training), an autonomous body of the Government of India, has made a documentary film on ‘Kaliyuva Mane,’ he added.

Continuing, he said that an unrecognised School like ‘Kaliyuva Mane’ is unable to issue documents such as Transfer Certificate, Study Certificate, Domicile Certificate and Progress Report as it is a non-formal School. Asserting that all children of the School passed the State Board’s 10th standard exam (SSLC) this year, he maintained that a formal recognition will help the children to get all the necessary documents to pursue their higher education.

Ananth Kumar also displayed a copy of the letter written to Prime Minister Modi seeking recognition for ‘Kaliyuva Mane’.

He further said that an e-book titled ‘I too want to learn, where is the school’ has been brought out by ‘Kaliyuva Mane’ which is available in YouTube.
