Mysuru: Maintaining that streetplay is a good medium of communication, ZP CEO P. Shivashankar has said that street-plays need no special stage nor instrument.
He was speaking after inaugurating Mysuru Divisional-level streetplay workshop for artistes at Naganahalli Agriculture Training Centre in the Taluk on Thursday. Pointing out that street-plays need no stage and can be performed at public joints, the ZP CEO observed that electronic media posed the biggest challenge for street-plays.
Underlining the need for artistes to think of utilising technological innovations while enacting plays, he stressed on the need for developing skills for reaching out to more and more number of people.
Noting that street-plays make a lasting impact on the people, especially the rural populace, he said that plays can be more effective with local dialects and local lifestyle.
Information and Public Relations Department Deputy Director Devarajaiah, in his keynote address, gave a brief on the initiatives launched by the department to reach out Government Schemes, programmes, projects etc., to the people.
Noting that WhatsApp, TV and other electronic media have been hogging the limelight with the advancement in technology, he emphasised on the need for training streetplay artistes to take on the challenges from the multi-media blitz.
Food and Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director Dr. K. Rameshwarappa and Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H.Channappa too spoke on the occasion.
The Centre’s Deputy Director Shivakumar, Information and Public Relations Department Assistant Director R. Raju and others were present.
