Mysore/Mysuru: Stressing on the need for Government servants to safeguard Government properties and assets, former High Court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao said that the task is vital for them as the properties belong to the public.
He was delivering a talk on the subject ‘Our Legal System and Process’ at the foundation training programme for the 199th batch of newly appointed probationers of Horticulture, Libraries, Minorities Welfare, Commercial Taxes and Urban Development departments at ATI (Administrative Training Institute) premises here recently.
Emphasising that Government servants and officials need to have a sound knowledge of the working procedures of our legal system, Judge Sudhindra Rao observed that expedition of pending cases in Courts will help the litigants and the public at large.
Advising Government servants against indulging in any wrongdoings, the Judge said that our good work will always come to our help in life.
Maintaining that officials who are representatives of the Government, must keep themselves updated with the latest developments, he said that at the same time, it is equally important to have some level of legal knowledge.
Reiterating that good work in safeguarding Government properties and assets will always remains entrenched in the minds of the people, Judge Rao opined that the work of a Government servant should be satisfactory to his/her own conscience.
In a word of advice, Judge Rao told the Government staff not to sign any papers or records without giving a proper reading to them completely and to correct mistakes if they come to their notice.
He further said that Government staff should remember that Courts are always there to come to their aid during any crisis.
Judge Sudhindra Rao also called upon the probationers to create job opportunities and to make best use of their Government service for the welfare and well-being of the general public.
