Atirudra Mahayaaga performed at Shankar Mutt in city

Mysuru; After a long gap of 70 years, Atirudra Mahayaaga for global welfare and prosperity, concluded in a grand manner at Shankar Mutt in Khille Mohalla here on Friday.

The Mahayaaga was last conducted by Sringeri Sharada Peetha’s 34th Acharya Chandrashekar Bharathi Swamiji in city 70-years ago.

The 5-day Mahayaaga held under the joint aegis of Mysuru’s Vishnu Parayana Trust and Swarna Nrusimha Dattasai Peethika Seva Trust, ended on a successful note on Friday with the performance of Homas and Poornahuthi.

The event took place under the guidance of Mantralaya Raghavendraswamy Mutt Seer Sri Subudhendrateertha Swamiji, Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji and Arjun Avadhoota Swamiji, with a team of priests led by Chief Priest Srinivasan performing the rituals.

MP and former Union Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Film producer Umapathy Gowda, MLA L. Nagendra, MyLAC Chairman N.V. Phaneesh, KEA Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda, CADA Chairman Shivalingaiah, Congress leaders K. Harish Gowda and B.L. Shankar, former MP C.H. Vijayshankar, KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Vidyashankar and a host of other leaders attended the event on the last day yesterday.

Belur Mutt Seer Sri Vijay Maruthi Swamiji and Arjun Avadhoota Swamiji blessed the devotees. House Keeping staff who took part in cleaning and upkeep of the premises were honoured on the occasion.

The five-day events featured performance of Bhajans, Bharatanatyam and other cultural programmes.

 Prasada was distributed to devotees on all the five days of Atirudra Mahayaaga.
