May 31, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Chamundeshwari MLA G.T.  Devegowda (GTD) met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at his residence in Bengaluru and sought a grant of Rs. 27.50 crore for relief works to be undertaken in the wake of severe damage caused in the Constituency due to heavy rains that lashed recently.

Giving details of the damages caused, GTD said that lakes in Hinkal, Bogadi and Lingambudhi have breached after 20 years due to the recent heavy rains causing water to gush into residential areas resulting in enormous loss to the citizens. Public roads, bridges, culverts and drainages have been badly damaged.

MP Pratap Simha, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham, Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner (MCC) G. Lakshmikantha Reddy and other concerned officers have inspected the affected areas. Following this, the MCC Commissioner has sought a grant of Rs. 27.50 crore, the MLA said and appealed to the Chief Minister to release the grants immediately so that relief works can be taken up immediately and basic facilities provided to the citizens. The MLA later informed the media that the CM has responded positively to his appeal.

Even the rains that lashed the city during last October – November had caused extensive damage with water entering into residential layouts of Bogadi 2nd Stage, CFTRI Layout, Anandanagara, Ashraya Extension,  Ananda Layout,  Preethi Layout, Ramakrishnanagar, Dattagalli, Sharadadevinagar areas.

Following this, District Minister S.T. Somashekar held a meeting with the concerned officials and later submitted a memorandum to the Government seeking release of Rs.138 crore to take up relief works, recalled Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda.
