City doctors present Geeth Gaatha Chal-20

Geeth Gaatha Chal, the popular musical show by Doctors and their family, has been entertaining the culture-loving Mysureans since the past 20 years and the 20th edition of the event was held at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Convocation Hall on Hunsur Road here last evening.

The event was not held for the past two years due to COVID-19.

Yesterday’s programme featured popular songs both in Hindi and Kannada including group dance. It was doctors all the way who sang their hearts out to entertain the music-lovers.

Dr. Col. M. Dayananda, Director, JSS Hospital, Mysuru, Sarvamangala Dayananda, Dr. M.A. Shekar, Vice-Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University and Sam Cherian, Managing Director, Schevaran Laboratories, were felicitated on the occasion by Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy, Industrialist and Philanthropist, who has been patronising and sponsoring the event all these years.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jagannath Shenoy said that Mysureans have accepted Geeth Gaatha Chal as an annual affair. “During the outbreak of COVID pandemic many people kept asking about when the music programme would be organised next. People don’t recognise me as an Industrialist anymore. They call me as a promoter of Geeth Gaatha Chal. I wish this music programme, which has completed 20 years now, will continue to entertain music-lovers for many more years,” he said.

Dr. M.S. Natashekar gave the programme a melodious start with the popular Kannada song ‘Kalladare Nanu…’ from the movie ‘Kotigobba’ creating vibrations in the auditorium.

Dr. A.L. Hemalatha sang ‘Tu Jahan Chalega…’ song from ‘Mera Saaya’ movie, while Dr. P.A. Kushalappa sang ‘Zindagi Ke Safar Mein…’ from ‘Aap Ki Kasam’. Dr. U. Ganesh Rao, Dr. U.G. Shenoy, Dr. Shivani Nayak, Dr. Sushma Krishna Murty, Dr. Seethalaxmi Somnath, Dr. Shyam Prasad, Apoorva Natashekhar, Dr. Preethi Prabhu, Ranjitha, Dr. G.D. Ravikumar, Sparsha Shenoy, R.L. Varsha, Dr. Somnath Vasudev, Dr. Snehashree and  Prithvi Shankar rendered various Kannada and Hindi songs on the occasion.

Hindi movie song like ‘Aayega Aanewala…’ from the film ‘Mahal’ grabbed audience attention while ‘Dil Ki Nazar…’ from ‘Anari’, ‘Dil Ki Girah…’ from ‘Raat Aur Din’, ‘Pyar Hua Chupke Se…’ from ‘1942 A Love Story’, ‘Jo Wada Kiya Woh Nibhana Padega…’ from ‘Taj Mahal’, ‘Lo Aa Gayi Unki Yaad…’ from ‘Do Badan’, ‘Teri Aankhon ke Siva…’ from ‘Chirag’ and other Hindi movie songs delighted the audience.

Dr. Preethi Prabhu sang a popular Kannada movie song ‘Nada Maya E Lokavella…’ from Dr. Rajkumar’s ‘Jeevana Chaithra’. Later Dr. Ganesh Rao sang ‘Bombe Heluthaithe…’ from Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar’s ‘Rajakumara’ while Dr. Ganesh Rao and Dr. Varsha rendered a romantic song ‘Sada Kannali Pranayada…’ from ‘Kaviratna Kalidasa’. Many other hit Kannada movie songs like ‘Nine Nine Nanagella Neene…’ from ‘Akash’, ‘Gaganavu Ello Bhoomiyu Ello…’ from ‘Gejje Pooje’, ‘Naa Ninna Mareyalare…’ from ‘Naa Ninna Mareyalare’, ‘Yenagali Munde Saagu Nee…’ from ‘Mussanje Maatu’ etc., made the audience cheer the participants on stage.

Syed Aftab Ahmed and Roopa Prakash compered the event. Dr. Jagannath Shenoy’s wife Kusuma Shenoy, Geeth Gaatha Chal Founder-Patron Dr. C. Umesh Kamath, Dr. Rekha Kamath and others were present.
