This refers to the news item titled “Birth or Death, No Certificates…” in Star of Mysore dated May 25.

Recently I was required to attend the funeral of my close relative at Chennai. The arrangements made there was a wonderful experience to me. The body was received only at pre-appointed time slot.

A large board was erected to announce free of cost service for burning the body in the crematorium.  The behaviour of the staff was very cordial. A Corporation staff was manning computer desk. He gathered all the information manually and handed over a copy of the  same.

He further gave details of the website and link code and advised us to login to the same after 21 days and download any number of copies of  Death Certificate, according to our requirements. I hope our State Government officials emulate this style of working and help free citizens from the clutches of lethargic and corrupt officials handling this crucial document.
