Mysore/Mysuru: The staff of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, who were conducting their regular beat, have found a carcass of a tiger aged between seven and eight years at Abbur Beat of Anechowkur Wildlife Range in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve on July 30. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the tiger may have died of injuries which it had sustained in a territorial fight.

Nagarahole Tiger Reserve Director Harsha Kumar Chikkanaragund, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) A.V. Satish, Range Forest Officer (RFO) of Hunsur Wildlife Sub-Division Ganaraj Patagar, Bose Madappa of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), Chief Wildlife Warden Sharin Subbaiah and others reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

Viscera samples of the tiger were collected which will be sent to a laboratory to ascertain the reason for the  tiger’s death.

The carcass of the tiger was cremated in the presence of Veterinarian Dr. Ramesh, Pollibetta Veterinarian Dr. V.S. Naveen Kumar and others.
