Mysore/Mysuru: The Social Welfare Department has organised a free training camp for youths who want to join the Indian Army or other uniform services. 

Candidates from Karnataka belonging to Scheduled Caste community and those born between Oct. 1, 2000 and Apr. 1, 2005 are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a pass in SSLC exam. The annual income of the family of the candidates should not exceed more than Rs. 5 lakh.

The training will be held in three districts throughout the State — Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada. Candidates must choose the place they wish to be trained at and submit the filled-in applicants to the respective district Social Welfare Department Joint Director or can also send their applications via post before Aug.  15. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and the Backward Classes Welfare Department (BCWD), have also invited applications from candidates who want to join the Indian Army or other uniform services. 

Candidates belonging to Category-1 2A, 3A and 3B and backward class communities and those born between Oct. 1, 2000 and Apr. 1, 2005 are eligible to apply. Age of candidates will be considered as per Oct. 1, 2022. Applicants must have a pass in SSLC exam scoring at least 33 marks in each subject.

 Free hostel facility will be provided. The annual income of the candidates belonging to Category-1 should not exceed more than Rs. 2.5 lakh while for those belonging to Categories-2A,3A and 3B should not exceed more than Rs. 1 lakh.
