Srirangapatna: Srirangapatna Sub-Division Police have cracked the case of headless bodies of two women which were found discarded at two different places. While one woman’s body was found near Arakere, the body of another woman was found between Bebi Betta and K. Bettahalli on June 7.

The two incidents of the grisly crime where semi-decomposed headless bodies of two women, filled in big plastic bags and discarded at two different places had sent shock waves among the villagers.

This was a challenging case for the Police and IGP (Southern Range) Pravin Madhular Pawar and SP Yatish had formed a Special Police team led by Dy.SP Sandesh Kumar to crack the case. The Special Police team, which began its investigation since a month, finally took a woman, who was involved in flesh trade and her lover into their custody and grilled them during which the accused spilled the beans.

It is learnt that the two accused had allegedly murdered many women in the State and had robbed their victims of their cash and gold ornaments. The duo used to reportedly behead the victims to make it unrecognisable and throw into flowing water.

The beheaded bodies of the two women found in Pandavapura and Arakere Police limits on June 7 have now been identified.

The accused are said to have murdered the two women in Metagalli Police limits and had discarded the headless bodies in Chikkadevaraja Canal in Mandya district. Sources said that the Police have also found out where the accused had discarded the heads of the two women.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused used to only target women involved in flesh trade and had committed similar crime in Chitradurga also.
