Miscreants steal scooter, cash after killing labourer

Mysore/Mysuru: An incident of miscreants murdering a labourer and decamping with his scooter and cash has come to light lately in city.

The deceased labourer has been identified as Shankar (50), a resident of Dattagalli ‘J’ Block in city. His body was found in a big drain near Deshilingeshwara Temple at MUDA Employees Layout on Jan. 29 and Kuvempunagar Police had registered a case of unnatural death of an unidentified person.

On Jan. 31, Shankar’s wife, 46-year-old Lakshmi came to Kuvempunagar Police Station to lodge a missing complaint of her husband and it was then the Police came to know that the unidentified body was that of her husband.

Lakshmi told the Police that on Jan. 29, Shankar left home at about 3 pm on his scooter and came home drunk at about 10.30 pm. He told her (Lakshmi) that the scooter key had fallen somewhere, took the duplicate key and also told her that he would take money from one Ravi of Parva Club and left home.

Lakshmi further stated that when she enquired with Ravi, he told her that he was not present in the club when Shankar had come on Jan. 29 and informed her that one Gaja of the club had seen Shankar consuming liquor on the Service Road at a distance from the club after parking his bike and also informed her that one Surya and another person, who were residing behind                                                          the club took Shankar along with his scooter with them.

In her complaint, Lakshmi has accused Surya and his friend of murdering Shankar by hitting on his head with a weapon, throwing his body in the big drain and making away with the scooter and cash.

Based on the complaint, Kuvempunagar Police who have registered a case, are investigating.
