Tips on home remedy with natural medicines for immediate relief

April 4, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Omprakash, retired senior Physician, JSS Ayurveda College, Mysuru, spoke on the topic ‘Home Remedies – The best and simple  solution as medicine for a healthy and long lasting life,’ as part of a lecture on health at Elder Citizens Council in Jayalakshmipuram recently.

Like the Sanjeevani  brought by Lord Hanuman to revive the condition of Lakshmana, who falls unconscious, by using herbal medicines, Dr. Omprakash chose to explain  the methods of healing of any diseases at home with the help of Kashaya, Churnam (paste), Lehya, made out of medicinal plants and leaves, herbals, spices and many more,  which are available in our surroundings. They can be used  as medicine to get relief from common health disorders like cold, cough, headache, joint pains, diabetes, BP, varicose veins, by applying them.

It was quite interesting  for the audience present to find that plants which are generally available in our gardens  like Thulasi, Doddapathre, Turmeric, Amla, Castrol and leaves, touch me not leaves, Dasavala flower, Coriander leaves, Lavanga (cloves), Pomegranate, Amruthaballi, Grass, Plantain leaves, Garlic, Margosa, Onion, Rock salt, Ghee, Milk,  are some of the naturally available and considered as powerful medicine to be applied to the body, both inside or outside to get relief.

As these items are available locally and can be mixed at home itself as juice, churnam or paste, they are considered as home remedies for immediate relief, according to Dr. Omprakash.

The talk was followed by interaction  with the audience, where they raised several queries on health issues and solutions by simple medicines.
