Brindavan Gardens closed for tourists today also

Srirangapatna: Following heavy rains and gusty winds which brought down many trees, huge branches and electric poles at Brindavan Gardens in Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) on Monday afternoon, Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda yesterday visited Brindavan Gardens and conducted inspection.

As a precautionary measure, Brindavan Gardens was closed from Monday evening. The Gardens is closed today also and may reopen tomorrow if fallen trees and electric poles are cleared.

The MLA, who collected information from the officials of Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL) and the Forest Department, instructed them to clear weak and dangerous trees besides asking them to take steps to prevent danger to Brindavan Gardens.

Speaking about the problems caused by heavy rains five years ago, the MLA said that trees that had posed danger were not cleared since then and took Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Mahadevaswamy and Range Forest Officer (RFO) Anitha to task for the delay.

After holding discussions with the CNNL Executive Engineer, he told the Executive Engineer to extend co-operation to the Forest Department and solve the issues without causing problems to the tourists. He later inspected the boating area and the park.

He also instructed the Agriculture Department officials to inspect agri fields in Hongalli                                                        village limits along with the farmers and provide suitable compensation to them.

CNNL Executive Engineer Ramamurthy, Tahsildar Ashwini, Assistant Executive Engineers Farooq Abu and Kishore Kumar, Inspector Puneeth Kumar, officials of the Horticulture Department and others were present.
