Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championships: 14 Karnataka Batallion NCC Mysore Cadets triumph

The National Cadets Corps (NCC) is the largest uniformed youth organisation in India, fostering discipline, leadership and teamwork among young individuals.

The Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championships is a prestigious annual competition  for NCC that provides a platform for Cadets to showcase their marksmanship skills.

Recently, a group of exceptionally talented NCC Cadets of 14 Karnataka Battalion, Mysore, excelled and ensured that Karnataka & Goa Directorate emerge champions in Inter-Directorate Sports Shooting Championships held at Trivandrum, Kerala.

Their impressive marksmanship skills and unwavering dedication led them to secure the top spots in this Championship which witnessed intense competition among all seventeen NCC Directorates from across the country.

Out of 16 Cadets of Karnataka, five were from 14 Karnataka Battalion — Senior Under Officer (SUO) K.M. Rakshita of JSS Women’s College, SUO Mohammed Aftab of PES College, Mandya, Junior Under Officer (JUO) P.D. Changappa of JSS College, Ooty Road, JUO Savi Kiran Holla of Excel Public School and Sergeant (SGT) K. Tejaswini of Lions West Sevaniketan School, Gokulam. They showcased their exceptional skills and precision in rifle shooting, outperforming their counterparts and achieving glory for the Directorate and the Battalion. Their consistent performance throughout the tournament highlighted their rigorous training, perseverance and commitment to excellence.

SUO Rakshita, who won Gold medal, SUO Mohammed Aftab, who got Silver and JUO Savi Kiran Holla have been selected for NCC Sports Shooting team for All India Mavlankar Championship. They will undergo further training at Mhow in MP.

Col. Manish Prasad as mentor, Sub Mukesh Kumar, Sub Lok Bahadur Shrestha and Hav Gurdeep Singh as trainers of 14 Karnataka Battalion played a vital role in nurturing the cadets’ talents and helping them master the art                  of shooting.

The Cadets were fortunate to have these dedicated trainers and mentors who tirelessly worked with them, fine-tuning their shooting techniques and imparting valuable knowledge. The victory of 14 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mysore is not only a testament to the Cadets’ individual marksmanship skills but also to their exceptional teamwork and camaraderie. The achievement of 14 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mysore serves as an inspiration to other aspiring marksmen within the NCC.
