Mysore/Mysuru: As part of International Millets Year, Sahaja Samruddha in association with Using Diversity and GIZ Germany is organising Millets Mela on Aug.26 and 27 at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry between 10 am to 8 pm, to decipher knowledge on healthy and nutritious millets.
Apart from regular millets from Karnataka, millet collections from farmers of Jharkand, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Odisha and exhibition of millets from tribal communities like Nagaland’s “Jab Tiars” and Bhaiga’s “Sikhiya” is arranged. More than 250 varieties of millets are being displayed.
ICAR- JSS KVK, Suttur, Devdanya Farmers Producer Company, Sahaja Organics and Sahaja Seeds are the co-organisers. Farmers groups are selling seeds, crops and organic products at reasonable price. Visitors can relish diverse dishes and snacks prepared out of millets. Various fruit saplings, organic seeds, vegetables, roots, oil, will be on sale.
