Mysore/Mysuru: Guru Abhivandane, an evening of Hindustani classical recitals, has been organised in honour of renowned tabla exponent Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanur on Aug. 26 at 5.30 pm at Rama Govinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar.
The students of ‘Sri Guru Puttaraja Tabla Vidyalaya,’ Mysuru, will present a tabla recital which will be followed by a Bansuri recital by Pt. Ravishankar Mishra.
The second half of the evening will see a tabla duet by Guru Bhimashankar and his disciple Rohit Kalale. The evening will conclude with a classical vocal recital by Pt. Veerabhadraiah Hiremath and a harmonium recital by Mrutyunjay Hiremath and Vignesh Bhagavat.
The event has been organised by Asha and Bhaskar Kalale.
Rohit Kalale, a 17-year-old California-born resident of Mysuru, is a disciple of Bhimashankar Bidanur. In 2019 he was conferred ‘Puttashri Award.’
Pt. Bhimashankar Bidanur, a well-known artiste among music-lovers of Mysuru, is a disciple of the legendary Dr. Pandit Puttaraja Gawai and Pandit Ravindra Yavagal.
Surmani Ravi Shankar Mishra, one of the finest flautists, started music lessons from his father Pt. Dinesh Chandra Mishra.
Ganashri Pt. Veeerabhadraiah Hiremath, a renowned vocalist, is a disciple of the legendary Padma Bushan Dr. Pandit Puttaraja Gawai and also trained under Pt. Indudhar Nirodi.
