Mysuru: Demanding release of water in all canals of KRS, Kabini and Harangi reservoirs and to fill up large water bodies through lift irrigation projects, over 100 farmers, under the banner of KRRS and Hasiru Sene, staged a demonstration in front of Cauvery CADA office on Sayyaj Rao Road here this morning.

Lashing out at the Government for releasing water to TN when the KRS dam was only half-full, the protesters urged the Government to immediately stop release of water to TN.

They demanded immediate release of water to all canals along KRS, Kabini and Haranagi basins for meeting the irrigation requirements of farmers, who have been waiting for long for the release of water.

They warned of intensifying their protest if their demands were not met. KRRS leaders Hosur Kumar, Hoskote Basavaraj, Ashwath Narayan Raje Urs, Vidya Sagar, Marankaiah and others took part in the protest.

In another protest over the same issue at the same venue, more than 25 activists of Karnataka Pratidhwani Vedike staged a demonstration.

Earlier, the activists who had planned to take out a procession from Gun House Circle along with cattle, were stopped by the Police as the Vedike had not taken prior permission for taking out such a procession. However, the protesters continued their march to the CADA office, leaving behind the cattle.

Vedike President Pratidhwani Prasad, office-bearers Arjun Kashyap, Shivamurthy, Ramaraje Urs, Ranjan Kumar and Lokesh led the protest.
