Mysuru: A free mega health check-up and treatment camp marked the 70th birthday celebrations of former Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad where more than 4,000 people from Ashokapuram, Krishnamurthypuram and surrounding areas underwent health check-up and treatment in city this morning.
The camp, organised by V. Sreenivasa Prasad Abhimani Balaga at the Government High School premises in Ashokapuram, was inaugurated by former Legislative Assembly Speaker Krishna.
In his inaugural address, Krishna said that Sreenivasa Prasad is a caretaker for the downtrodden who respected an individual for his/ her good works and added that the health camp was aimed at treating the poor who could not avail specialised treatment by expert doctors.
V Sreenivasa Prasad, who also spoke said that the role of youth was very important for a change in the society and added that the camp was organised to help the financially weaker section of the society to avail advanced treatment.
Over 50 specialist doctors of Pralaksha Hospital at Hootagalli from the departments of ophthalmology, orthopaedics, cardiology, gynaecology, dermatology, paediatrics, diabetes, gastric, spinal cord, ENT, dental, kidney, plastic surgery, obesity and weight management and cancer along with about 150 nurses and other para-medical staff had set up about 30 counters. Nearly 200 volunteers from the Balaga assisted the patients to go to the respective departments at the camp.
The Hospital had brought ECG, X-Ray and scanning machines to the venue besides undertaking various tests such as bone marrow density and blood grouping among other tests.
On the occasion, Dr. Venkatesh, retired Professor of MMC&RI, Dr. Kamala Raman and Dr. Ranganathaiah, were felicitated. Food and drinking water was provided by the Balaga. Bhagyalakshmi Sreenivasa Prasad, Chief of Pralaksha Hospital Dr. N.S. Mohan, former MP Kagalwadi Shivanna, former MUDA Chairmen C. Basavegowda and K.R. Mohan Kumar, former Mayor Purushotham, former Dy. Mayor V. Shailendra, leader N.M. Naveen Kumar, Balaga President P. Nandakumar and others were present.
