Mysore/Mysuru: Condemning what they call ‘anti-farmer stand of the Central Government’ and urging for fulfilment of various demands of the farmers, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) has decided to take out a tractor rally at all the district centres in the State including Bengaluru on Jan. 26, the Republic Day.

KRRS President Badagalapura Nagendra made the announcement during the press meet, after chairing a meeting of farmers at the auditorium of Horticulture Department at Curzon Park in the city on Friday.

“The Centre has already withdrawn three Farm Laws that were believed to have been fatal for farmers, but has hatched a plot to impinge the same laws on farmers indirectly. The discussions made on these lines at G20 meeting lays bare the facts,” alleged Nagendra.

An inevitable situation has aroused where farmers have to hit the streets for protest again condemning the anti-farmer laws of the Government. In this wake, the Centre should drop any move to indirectly enforce the decisions considered as a threat to agrarian community and fix scientific prices for farm produces. If not scientific price, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) should be announced at least, he demanded.

The Centre had assured to withdraw cases booked against farmers who took part in the movement at New Delhi, which should be done at the earliest. Over 700 farmers laid down their lives during the movement and the Centre that had promised to provide land to build Martyr’s Memorial is yet to keep its word, rued Nagendra.

The Centre has failed to address the issues bothering farmers and the people and to divert people’s attention, top BJP leaders are looking at winning Lok Sabha polls with the inauguration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on Jan. 22.

Nagendra said “The birth anniversary celebration of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha Founder Prof. M.D. Nanjunda Swamy has been organised on Feb. 10 at Freedom Park in Bengaluru. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is also invited for the programme, during which several demands will be made to the Government.”

KRRS Office-bearers Hosur Kumar, Hosakote Basavaraj, Ravikumar Punacha, Krishnappa, Manjunath, Aditya, Sunny D’Souza, Premkumar and others were present.
