Mysore/Mysuru: City’s senior writer Dr. Priti Shubhachandra has been selected for the Chavundaraya Endowment Award-2023 of Kannada Sahitya Parishat.
The award, instituted by Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Shravanabelagola in the Parishat, is given to a writer of essay, research work, critique, novel, play, story written in modern Kannada based on ancient Jain literature or editor or senior writer who has contributed to Kannada literature in various aspects.
Dr. Priti Shubhachandra has written over 40 research papers and many books related to Jain literature. She was unanimously selected for the award at the Selection Committee Meeting held on Apr. 17, 2024, which was presided by Parishat President Nadoja Dr. Mahesh Joshi.
The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 and a citation, will be presented at a ceremony to be held at a later date.
Dr. Priti Shubhachandra had served as a Professor and first woman Director of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS), University of Mysore and also as the Hon. Director of the Centre for Women’s Studies.
