World Milk Day: MyMUL organises bike rally to promote ‘Nandini’ products

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Milk Union Limited (MyMUL), as a part of World Milk Day, had organised a bike rally to promote ‘Nandini’ products in city recently.

The rally, which was flagged off in front of MyMUL at Alanahalli, passed through Teresian College Circle, Nazarbad, Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Circle (Hardinge Circle), Gun House Circle, before culminating at Shakthidhama. Participants were seen holding placards promoting ‘Nandini’ products.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) Managing Director M.K. Jagadish said that the World Milk Day was being organised to promote the importance of milk worldwide and also to increase the production of milk and its usage.

“Milk being a complete food is used by people of all age groups as it provides necessary nutrients to maintain physical health,” he said and added that KMF had created an history on May 31 with a storage of 94.26 lakh kgs of milk.

Stating that KMF had a vision of storing one lakh kgs of milk in the days to come, Jagadish said that the Federation was successful in meeting the customer demands by providing necessary supply of milk, curd and buttermilk despite soaring summer.

“We have sold 39,000 litres of ice cream compared to 16,000 litres last year. With the increase in production, we have been selling two lakh litres of ‘Nandini’ milk in Mumbai every day. KMF has also plans to increase the sale by one lakh litres in Mumbai and 50,000 to one lakh litres in Chennai where we are currently selling 35,000 litres of milk. We are also in discussion to start 16 Nandini parlours in association with BSNL,” said Jagadish.

MyMUL Managing Director B.N. Vijaykumar, who too spoke, said that the milk union in Mysuru was celebrating the World Milk Day for the past three years.

“While we held a jatha in the first year, last year the celebration was held in association with various ashrams and this year through a bike rally. Milk has all kinds of minerals and nutrients. It is important to consume milk for good health,”  he said.

MyMUL Marketing Manager H.K. Jayashankar, Administrative Officers and staff were present on the occasion.
