Kannada Book Authority Chairman Manasa at book release event
Mysore/Mysuru: “If we inculcate the habit of reading books in our life, we can lead a peaceful life,” opined Chairman of Kannada Book Authority Manasa after inaugurating a function organised to mark the release of two books ‘Tangaaliyalli Walking’ and ‘Baduku Bimba’ authored by Padma Anand.
The function was organised by Mysuru Sahitya Dasoha organisation at Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) premises on JLB Road in city on Sunday.
“Like revolutionary Basavanna’s Kalyana Kaarya, Mysuru Sahitya Dasoha is organising many functions related to literary field which is laudable. It has become inevitable for all of us to develop love for books. To lead a peaceful life, we must develop the habit of reading books,” said Manasa.
“People in the age group of 40 to 50 years are purchasing tablets to lead their life. If we inculcated the habit of reading books right from the beginning of our life it is possible to lead a peaceful life. Reading books will help us to lead a healthy life as having a matured state of mind will lead to a quality life. People are excusing themselves from reading books by saying that they don’t have time though they have time to do other things,” he added.
Stating that some people are in the habit of going on pilgrimage in their old age to seek mental peace, he said every one must have the habit of reading books even if they don’t understand them. “If we continue this habit, literature will save our life during our difficult times. People will refuse to purchase books but buy expensive things. We all should buy more books. DVG’s ‘Mankuthimmana Kagga’ is still very relevant. It should have been awarded the first Jnanpith Award. I still wonder why the selection committee didn’t consider this book,” regretted Manasa.
Senior Science writer S. Ramprasad, who presided, released the book ‘Tangaaliyalli Walking’ and senior scholar Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj released ‘Baduku Bimba.’ Prof. Mysore Krishnamurthy and Asst. Integrated Planning Officer G. Venkatachala spoke about the books. Dot-portrait artist Mohan Vernekar, senior writer Kerodi M. Lolakshi, Mysuru Sahitya Dasoha Founder Padma Anand and M.R. Anand were present.
