Pensioners pour out their woes, to stage protest tomorrow

July 7, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Retired employees of both Government agencies and private establishments, in a press release have given vent to the injustice being meted to them by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and have announced that they will be staging a protest July 8 (tomorrow) to draw the attention  of the Labour Department, Government of India and the EPFO.

“We are receiving a monthly pension of Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000 from PF and are unable to lead our life with this meagre amount. Many retired employees have died unable to bear their medical expenses including tablets. But retired Government employees are getting a minimum monthly pension of Rs.15,000 to Rs. 1 lakh,” says the EPS 95  press release.

The press release further says that despite their continuous fight, protest and rasta-roko agitations and submitting memorandums to many MPs and Ministers of the country their problems remain and justice is being continuously denied to them.

EPS 95 employees work in several Government organisations like KSRTC, BMTC, KMF and in private organisations like JK Tyre, Falcon Tyres, MDCC Bank, Sugar factories, private schools and colleges, various cooperative organisations, MSMEs, KSIC, Bhoruka, Mypol, Bata, MNPM, MICO, Zoo, Medical College among others. We had contributed the prescribed ceiling limit amount of Rs. 451 to Rs. 1200. In spite of this and judgements of  Supreme Court, we are not getting our fair share of pension  on the ground that we should have given ‘Joint Option’ while in service. Thousands of EPS 95 retired employees will stage a peaceful protest on July 8 at 10.30 am at PF Office in Gayathripuram here to draw the attention of authorities concerned.
