International Cricket Stadium in Mysuru: Good news soon, says KSCA Hon. President

August 4, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: Cricket lovers in Mysuru will soon receive good news regarding the construction of an International Cricket Stadium in the city, announced Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Hon. President K. Raghuram Bhat.

Speaking at the KSCA Mysuru Zone Award Ceremony for the years 2022-23 and 2023-24 held in city yesterday, Bhat revealed that the Association had been working for many years to build an international stadium in Mysuru. While the initially identified site for the stadium was rejected for technical reasons, another suitable location has now been identified.

“The KSCA has been in touch with the State Government and the matter is expected to be finalised in a few weeks or a month,” he said.

Bhat also mentioned that the KSCA is launching special camps for spinners and fast bowlers. The Association will extend training facilities to uncapped, high-quality spinners identified by cricket clubs, who will be considered for selection in various tournaments.

“The KSCA has decided to increase the number of matches in Mysuru and award the best player with the ‘Man of the Match’ award. Additionally, the KSCA has been providing practice facilities for Division I and II players at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and plans to offer similar facilities for players in Mysuru at the SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagangothri,” he added.

Encouragement for women cricketers

Bhat noted that the KSCA Managing Committee has been providing all necessary facilities to encourage women cricketers in the State. “The U-19 State Women’s team emerged as champions last year and  selection for the State U-15 team will be held in Bengaluru today,” he said.
