Mysore/Mysuru: Observing that Tax Practitioners play a vital role in economic development of State and the country, former FKCCI (Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industries) President Sudhakar S. Shetty reiterated the demand for covering Tax Practitioners across the country under the Centre’s Group Insurance Scheme.
He was speaking after inaugurating Tax Practitioners Day celebrations on the second and concluding day of the two-day National Tax Conference and Tax Practitioners Day organised by All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (AIFTP) in association with Karnataka State Tax Practitioners Association (KSTPA) at a private hotel on Hunsur Road here yesterday.
“Tax Practitioners should give their best for the growth of the nation and at the same time do justice for their clients. New Technologies must be adopted in accordance with the fast changing times in order to keep abreast of the latest developments in the world of finance and investments”, he said while stressing on the need for Tax Practitioners to upgrade their skills for meeting newer challenges that come with advancement in technology.
Pointing out that it is happy to note that Karnataka is placed second in the country in GST payments list, Sudhakar Shetty attributed it to the work of Tax Practitioners of the State. Noting that there was opposition to the GST from several quarters initially when in it was introduced seven years ago, Shetty said that however, with the passage of time, traders and others coming under the GST regime, gradually became acclimatised to it by incorporating it as a routine, which is a good development.
MCCI President K.B. Lingaraju, AIFTP National President Narayan Prasad Jain, KSTPA President S. Nanjunda Prasad, Conference Chairman Mukund L. Potnis and others were present.
