Free anti-rabies vaccination camps mark World Rabies Day in city

Mysuru: People For Animals (PFA) and Reaching Out To Animals successfully conducted a free anti-rabies vaccination camp on Sept. 28 and 29, covering areas including K.G. Koppal, T.K. Layout and Vinayaka Nagar.

A total of 120 dogs were vaccinated: 54 in K.G. Koppal and T.K. Layout, 17 at PFA in Bogadi, and 49 in Hootagalli and its surrounding areas.

The vaccination drive, organised to mark World Rabies Day on Sept. 28, aimed to curb rabies in community dogs and promote responsible pet ownership.

The event was attended by notable individuals, including Deputy Director Dr. Nagaraj, Assistant Director Dr. Poornanand, and veterinarians from the Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Santhosh Wadiyar, Dr. Ramith, and Dr. Harshith.

PFA’s veterinarians — Dr. Amardeep Singh, Dr. Lokesh Babu, and Dr. Dilip — were also present, along with PFA volunteer Laurin Sabrowski from Germany and PFA Trustee Savitha Nagabhushan. The initiative was hailed as a success, contributing to the health and safety of the community and its animals.

Lions Club initiative

On Sept. 29, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Mysuru Taluk, in association with Dog Protection Trust and Lions Club, Mysuru administered free anti-rabies vaccines to dogs.

The animals at Lions School, Bannimantap and Mysuru Circle were vaccinated. Later, street dogs were vaccinated against rabies in the Bannimantap area of Mysuru city.

On the occasion, Assistant Director of the Department Dr. Purnima, Dr. Puttaraju, Dr. Santhosh Wadiyar, Dr. Ashok, Dr. Punith – Veterinary officers, Venkatesh, Ganeshmurthy, Gopi, Mahesh, Bhagyamma,  Sunil, and technical staff of the Department were present along with members of Dog                            Protection Trust.

President of Lions Club Dr. Ashwini Hullahatti, Dr. Mithya, Vidya, Namrata, Pooja, Helen and others were also present.
