Legends Premier League – T10 Cricket Tournament from Oct. 5

Mysuru: Navodaya Cricket Club, Mysuru, in association with Noesys Software, Bengaluru, will be organising a two-day season-3 ‘Legends Premier League – T10 Cricket Tournament’ from Oct. 5 at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium and JSS-SJCE Grounds in city.

Around 100 Senior Cricketers, who have represented Ranji Trophy, Karnataka State, Mysuru Zone and University Cricket teams will take part.

The tournament will be inaugurated by Senior Surgeon Dr. C.G. Narasimhan on Oct. 5 at 8 am at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium. KSCA Mysuru Zone Convenor R.K. Harikrishna Kumar and Mysuru Zone Chairman S. Balachandar will be present.

This year’s tournament is held in memory of Dr. (Col.) L.N. Raja, an alumnus of Mysore Medical College. Dr. Madhavi Raja, wife of Dr. Raja, Noesys Software Founders Sanjay Raja and Smitha Bopanna and University of Mysore PE Department Director Dr. C. Venkatesh will be the chief guests at the valedictory on Oct. 6 at 4 pm.

The tournament will be played in T10 format with 3 overs powerplay. Five teams will play a total of 11 matches with top 2 teams qualifying for finals. Each team will play a minimum of four matches in the league stages.

About Dr. (Col.) L.N. Raja

Dr. (Col.) L.N. Raja was born on Oct. 4, 1933, in Mysuru to Physicist Dr. L. Seebiah, who served as Principal of Yuvaraja’s College and Laxmi couple.

He joined Mysore Medical College in 1957 during which he emerged as a topper. He played for the college cricket team and became a champion in table tennis, competing at the State-level. His achievements extended to softball, basketball, and hockey. Additionally, he was an active NCC cadet.

After MBBS, Dr. Raja joined Indian Army as part of Army Medical Corps. His commitment to excellence was recognised when he completed Officer training in Lucknow and was honoured as the Best Outgoing Officer.

He pursued specialisation in Paediatrics, earning both his DCH and MD from AFMC Pune.

In his distinguished career in the military, he served various Army Hospitals across the country before attaining his superannuation at the Command Hospital in Bengaluru.

After retirement, Dr. Raja returned to Mysuru, where he continued teaching as a Professor of Paediatrics at Adichunchanagiri Medical College before leaving for heavenly adobe in 2006.

Dr. Raja’s son Sanjay Raja continued cricketing legacy of his father by representing Mysore University and Karnataka U-23 cricket teams.
