Mysuru: Just hours after K. Marigowda resigned as Chairman of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), the Opposition BJP asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to follow suit and step down from his position.

BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra highlighted at a press conference in New Delhi that Siddaramaiah’s wife, B.M. Parvathi, received 14 alternative sites under the controversial 50:50 plan, asserting that the CM must resign if he has any moral integrity left.

He stated that Marigowda’s resignation and the offer from Parvathi to return the MUDA sites clearly point to a significant scam within the authority, insisting that Siddaramaiah should resign immediately in light of the allegations.

Patra emphasised that the resignation of Marigowda and the return of the sites by CM’s wife reveal Siddaramaiah’s deep involvement in the land scandal. “There is no doubt about it,” he declared, urging Chief Minister to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and resign without delay.

“In what is being called a colossal scandal unseen in the State, the Chief Minister himself has been implicated in the MUDA scam, leading to the return of 14 sites. Following this, his close associate K. Marigowda has resigned from the position of MUDA Chairman,” posted State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra on ‘X’.

“The resignation saga has begun in this case, with only the resignations of the Urban Development Minister, the District In-Charge Minister, and other Chief Ministers remaining. Marigowda’s resignation marks the beginning of a trend, indicating that those caught up in the scandal have no option but to resign,” he posted.

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok urged the ruling Congress to clarify the reasons for Marigowda’s resignation if it was true that there were no irregularities.
