Bengaluru: Social activist and one of the petitioners in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case T.J. Abraham met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot yesterday and submitted a petition demanding dismissal of the Advocate General (AG) and urging swift action on a petition against Housing Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan.

The petition pertains to the lack of action on comments made by Zameer Ahmed regarding a High Court judgement in the MUDA case. Abraham stated, “I have requested a directive to expedite the petition for criminal prosecution sanction against Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan for contempt of Court, which is currently pending before the AG.”

The demand stems from Zameer’s controversial statement calling the High Court’s ruling in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s case a “political judgement.”

The High Court had upheld consent for prosecution against Siddaramaiah in the MUDA case. Abraham further called for the dismissal of the Advocate General under Article 165 of the Constitution, accusing him of shielding Zameer by not granting the necessary sanction                               for prosecution.

Abraham revealed that he had applied to the AG to start criminal proceedings against Zameer for his contemptuous remarks, but the AG is yet to respond.
