Violations of khata registration laws: Action recommended against former MUDA Secretary

November 5, 2024

Mysuru: Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Commissioner A.N. Raghunandan has submitted a report to the State Government recommending disciplinary action against former MUDA Secretary G.D. Shekar over alleged violations of khata registration laws.

The allegations stem from a complaint filed on May 25 by M.R. Ashok Kumar, a resident of Nazarbad in Mysuru, with the Secretary of the Department of Urban Development.

In his complaint, Ashok Kumar accused Shekar of violating the Karnataka Urban Development Authorities Act, 1987, in matters concerning khata registration, khata transfer, inheritance (Pouthi) khata transfer and khata transfer through sale.

Following this, the Urban Development Department’s Secretary issued an order on July 2, directing the Directorate of Urban Development and the Commissioner of Town and Country Planning to investigate and report on the matter.

Subsequently, on July 19, both authorities instructed MUDA Commissioner to submit a detailed report along with supporting documents, which he has now provided.

MUDA Commissioner Raghunandan has submitted the report to the Government, noting that former MUDA Secretary G.D. Shekar has already been relieved from his position.

In his communication to the Directorate of Urban Development and the and the Commissioner of Town and Country Planning, Raghunandan indicated that this report has been filed to support any further disciplinary actions deemed necessary.
