B.V. Karanth College Rangotsava from Nov. 11 to 15

Mysuru: Rangayana, Mysuru, has organised B.V. Karanth College Rangotsava from Nov. 11 to 15 at Bhoomigeetha auditorium in city.  The plays will be staged at 6.30 pm daily.

Addressing media persons after taking part in the theatre training camp on Friday, Rangayana Director Satish Tiptur said, the theatre fest in the name of doyen in the realm B.V. Karanth is being organised since 2005 without a break. The motto behind organising the theatre fest is to involve students in the cause of literature, culture, land, water, language and tradition.

Students from various colleges attending the ongoing camp will be staging plays during the fest. Artist Badal Nanjundaswamy will be inaugurating the theatre fest on Nov. 11 at 5.30 pm. Theatre artiste Sushma Nanaiah, playwright Dr. Rajappa Dalawayi, theatre person H.S. Suresh Babu and Joint Director of Kannada and Culture Department V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy will be the chief guests.

The plays to be staged are as follows:

Nov. 11: ‘Vasantha Yamini Swapna Chamathkara’ (Kannada version of William Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream) by the students of Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, directed by V. Ranganath.

Nov. 12: ‘Henmaklu Kathe Helthare’ by the students of Government Women’s First Grade College,  Hunsur, written and directed by M. Arjun.

Nov. 13: ‘Maranayaka,’ based on Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ by the students of MMK and SDM Women’s College, Mysuru, directed by P. Chandini.

Nov. 14: ‘Naagi Karisidda’ based on Kuvempu’s story by students of La Salette PU College, Mardur, Hunsur, directed by A.S. Subhash.

Nov. 15: ‘Jathegiruvanu Chandira,’ written by Jayanth Kaikini, by the students of Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru, directed by S. Karthik.

Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Department Dr. M.D. Sudarshan, Convener of College Rangotsava – 2024 K.R. Nandini, senior Rangayana artistes Prashanth Hiremath, M.S. Geetha and Hulagappa Kattimani were present.
